Books of Hadith

Hadees or a collection called Ahadees are the collection of narrations related to Holy Prophet Mohammad on his practices during his lifetime for the followers of Islam to practice for all times to come . The famous and authentic narrations (hadees) were compiled by six narrator in their respective books generally known as “Saha Sittah” the sahi (right and authentic narrations) These books of narration were compiled after research and verification by their authors at various instances and time after the death of the Holy Prophet. They shared cross verification with each other further authenticating the authenticity of the narration as true and correct.

Translated in Urdu, English, Tamil, Hindi Bengali and many other languages are a plethora and a treasure revered and respected around the globe both in muslim as well as other communities.

These book of narration are called; Sahih Bokhari, written by Imam Ismail Al Bokhari, (810 to 870 AD) about 200 years after the death of the prophet. It is known as Sahih Bokhari, and is one of the widely accepted among other books of narration. Sahih Muslim, written by Imam Muslim a muslim scholar, and regarded as one of the most undisputed publication containing around 1900 narrations (ahadees).

Sunan- ibne Dawud, compiled and written by a prominent scholar Imam abu Dawud , born in Sijistan and lived significant life in Basrah, the center of Islamic learning. Jamai Tirmizi, written and compiled 4000 narrations (hadees) by Abu Isa Tirmizi, who was born and died in Baugh (Garden) named city of Iran. Losing his eyesight two years before his death he was considered most knowledgeable collector of ahadees, duly noted in his book Jamai Tirmizi.

Sunan Nasai, the sixth book written by Nasai is regarded third in authenticity also known as Sunan Sughra is held at esteem by Sunni fiqah.

Sunan Ibne Majah, although not amongst the six was written and compiled by ibn majah, and is used as cross reference, giving him (ibn Majah) high status and ranking among mohadaseen (narrators).
