Hadith in Arabic

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يَزِيدَ الْفَقِيرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُنَّا نَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ خَلْفَ الْإِمَامِ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ وَسُورَةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَفِي الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ .

Hadith in Urdu

ہم ظہر و عصر میں امام کے پیچھے پہلی دونوں رکعتوں میں سورۃ فاتحہ اور کوئی ایک سورۃ پڑھتے تھے، اور آخری دونوں رکعتوں میں صرف سورۃ فاتحہ پڑھتے تھے ۱؎۔

Hadith in English

It was narrated that Jabir bin ‘Abdullah said: “We used to recite the Opening of the Book and a Surah behind the Imam in the first two Rak’ah of the Zuhr and the ‘Asr, and in the last wo Rak’ah (we would recite) the Opening of the Book.” .
