Hadith in Arabic

حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ نَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْحَفْصَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا يَحِلُّ لِامْرَأَةٍ تُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنْ تُحِدَّ عَلَى مَيِّتٍ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ إِلَّا عَلَى زَوْجٍ .

Hadith in Urdu

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جو عورت اللہ اور آخرت کے دن پر ایمان رکھتی ہو اس کے لیے حلال نہیں کہ شوہر کے علاوہ کسی میت پر تین دن سے زیادہ سوگ منائے ۔

Hadith in English

It was narrated from Hafsah the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ) that: the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), said: It is not permissible for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to mourn for any deceased person for more than three days, except for her husband. .
