Hadith in Arabic

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِلَالُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ كَمَثَلِ خَامَةِ الزَّرْعِ يَفِيءُ وَرَقُهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَتَتْهَا الرِّيحُ تُكَفِّئُهَا ، فَإِذَا سَكَنَتِ اعْتَدَلَتْ وَكَذَلِكَ الْمُؤْمِنُ يُكَفَّأُ بِالْبَلَاءِ ، وَمَثَلُ الْكَافِرِ كَمَثَلِ الْأَرْزَةِ صَمَّاءَ مُعْتَدِلَةً حَتَّى يَقْصِمَهَا اللَّهُ إِذَا شَاءَ .

Hadith in Urdu

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”مومن کی مثال کھیت کے نرم پودے کی سی ہے کہ جدھر ہوا چلتی ہے تو اس کے پتے ادھر جھک جاتے ہیں اور جب ہوا رک جاتی ہے تو پتے بھی برابر ہو جاتے ہیں۔ اسی طرح مومن آزمائشوں میں بچایا جاتا ہے لیکن کافر کی مثال شمشاد کے سخت درخت جیسی ہے کہ ایک حالت پر کھڑا رہتا ہے یہاں تک کہ اللہ جب چاہتا ہے اسے اکھاڑ دیتا ہے۔“

Hadith in English

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, The example of a believer is that of a fresh green plant the leaves of which move in whatever direction the wind forces them to move and when the wind becomes still, it stand straight. Such is the similitude of the believer: He is disturbed by calamities (but is like the fresh plant he regains his normal state soon). And the example of a disbeliever is that of a pine tree (which remains) hard and straight till Allah cuts it down when He will. (See Hadith No. 546 and 547, Vol. 7). .
